Breakfast can be enjoyed along Laugavegur, a shop- and café-lined street in the middle of the city, and from there you can head to the National Museum of Iceland. This is where you will see the famous Valþjófsstaður door, that was carved in the Middle Ages.

The Afternoon

Spend the middle of the day swimming in the Laugardalslaug Geothermal Pool, which is Iceland’s largest pool. It was built in 1968 and features hot tubs, a thermal steam bath, a waterslide, and mini golf. This will keep you busy for a lot of the day.

The Nightlife

As one of the best party cities in the world, Reykjavik offers a range of watering holes that are worth visiting, like Kaffibarinn, the part café, part club, which is divided into three different sections so you can choose which part you want to dance the night away in, depending on what sort of night, and music, you like.

There is also a Big Lebowski–themed bar that looks like a vintage American diner, complete with a bowling alley. They have a daily happy hour between 4pm–7pm, making it the funniest and most cost-effective spot for a White Russian!

The Next Day

Don’t go too crazy on the drinks, however, as you should spend the following day at The Golden Circle, home to the Gullfoss waterfall, the Strokkur geyser, and Þingvellir National Park. Head out of town in a rental car or a bus, and pack plenty of entertainment for the 250km round trip. It’s entirely worth it to see the biggest tourist attraction in Iceland.

You’ll also want to see the famous Blue Lagoon, one of the most iconic spots in Iceland. Large pools, milky-blue steamy water which is very picturesque and a luxurious way to end the day!

Reykjavik is known for its incredible nightlife and beautiful natural scenery, so whether you’re a partier or a landscape-lover, you’ll find exactly what you’re looking for.
